Thanks to member Helen Turner for this recipe for granola, which makes 15 servings.
Ingredients
- 300
g (11oz ) porridge oats - 50
g (2oz ) each chopped brazil nuts, flaked almonds, wheatgerm or rye flakes and sunflower seeds - 25
g (1oz ) sesame seeds - 100
ml (3½fl oz ) sunflower oil - 5
tbsp honey - 100
g (3½ oz) each raisins and dried cranberries
Method
- Preheat the oven to 140
ºC (120ºC fan oven) or gas mark 1. Put oats, nuts, wheatgerm or rye flakes and all the seeds in a bowl. Gently heat oil and honey in a pan. Pour over oats and stir to combine. Spread on to a shallow baking tray and cook in the oven for 1hr or until golden, stirring once. Cool briefly. - Put in a bowl and stir in the dried fruit. Store in an airtight container – the granola will keep for up to a week. Serve with skimmed milk or low-fat yoghurt.
